Review and discuss resources for addressing ee upgrades in homes of historic/significant architectural value in ways that respect the original designs and do not alienate the home owners. Think Frank Lloyd Wright and his disciples, Mid Century Modern homes and others with unusual details, framing, etc., which might present air sealing and insulation challenges. This session will show and describe strategies for reducing a home's operating costs, increasing comfort, while respecting the design details. It will also provide resources for recognizing unique architecture, through the use of a field guide, so the sales/estimator can communicate with some knowledge and respect of a particular house type. This will lead to more opportunities to close jobs in higher end markets and keep respect for our industry or high end consumers as well as rehabbers of older, historically significant homes.
