Manufactured Housing can have many weatherization issues to address — but by far the weakest link in the heating/ cooling system is the ductwork. We are currently addressing some of the weak areas, but we are missing some of the most egregious holes in the duct - the furnace transitions into the trunk lines. Along with this, many manufactured housing furnaces are too large, and the fan speeds are usually too high, and we are blowing the conditioned air directly into the belly cavity. We need to dig a little deeper to fix the ducts, both when the furnaces are changed out, and during the weatherization process. We can also do a better job of adjusting fan speeds to match the needs and limits of these duct systems.
