This session explores the common use cases and capabilities of the two Weatherization Assistant Suite of Tools energy audits suitable for multifamily (NEAT and MulTEA). MulTEA is a DOE-approved audit tool for use in the Weatherization Assistance Program for all multifamily buildings with individual heating and cooling systems. The ability to audit buildings with a central boiler has now been programmed in MulTEA. This presentation provides an overview of updates to MulTEA, focusing on use cases with a central boiler and associated retrofit measures that can now be evaluated in MulTEA. Likewise, the National Energy Audit Tool (NEAT) has been a core energy auditing tool in the DOE Weatherization Assistance Program for over three decades. The flexibility built into NEAT that makes it a standard choice for single-family residential energy auditing also provides capabilities for analysis of low-rise multifamily buildings. This presentation lays out a pathway for using NEAT to complete energy auditing of select low-rise multifamily buildings.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Select appropriate modeling software for weatherization of various low-rise multifamily building configurations
Define a process for using NEAT to model/audit specific low-rise multifamily buildings based upon specific building details
Identify specific low-rise multifamily weatherization project details for seleting appropriate modeling software
