This session hopes to inform and educate attendees about different worker ownership models that presently exist in the building performance community. Worker owned companies run the gamut from partially worker owned businesses to fully or majority owned businesses. Attendees will learn about companies that have successfully converted from individually owned LLC’s ( and other structures) to worker owned Cooperatives. In addition to addressing issues of diversity equity and inclusion these unique worker ownership structures can also facilitate the transition of ownership from business owners who are approaching retirement age but who do not have family members able or interested in taking on the businesses responsibilities. In this day and age of graying workforce’s and high demand for workers all companies are looking for ways to make their businesses look more appealing to potential employees. Co-ops and worker owned businesses can help set their companies apart from the rest in a unique way. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of some alternative business ownership structures and the potential benefits, opportunities and risks of these unique models.
This session is geared for Building Performance company owners and directors as well as workers, managers and administrators.
