Existing water heaters are not always in spaces with the required volume of air required for efficient operation is present. When volume requirements are not to manufacturers’ specifications, ducting or venting of the space is required. This presentation will share the results of two pilot programs placing HPWHs in manufactured homes and multi family housing. In both studies, it was necessary to duct and vent the water heater closet. The session will also discuss the energy impacts of various ducting methods and related costs.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Understand the energy impacts of various ducting methods
Understand how to minimize noise transmission and cold air complaints
Learn how install HPWHs in closets and other small spaces
