The COVID-19 pandemic has made people stay at home a lot more. When one person in the home gets infected it has the potential to spread to others in the household. This risk may be reduced through targeted use of ventilation and filtration, and our industry has the potential to be a resource to help people with these concerns. This session will discuss ways to reduce risk of disease transmission from a potential carrier to others, and how to reduce risk for a family member who is at higher risk when others (such as a caregiver) may need to come into the home. Many of these approaches can use simple supplies but may benefit from the involvement of a home performance professional. This session will also discuss the use of the blower door when infectious disease is a concern.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this session, attendees will:
Describe how to set up an "isolation zone" to limit transmission risk from a potentially infected person
Discuss how to set up a "sheltered zone" to limit transmission risk to a highly susceptible person
List other considerations for the health and safety of the residents
