Gene Decaminada is currently the Pharmacy Manager for the Home Infusion Program with Yale New Haven Health Services (YNHHS) in Connecticut. He is responsible for creating SOPs and training. Gene is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York where he received his B.S. degree. His professional interests include working as a longitudinal Pharmacist Preceptor for the PGY-1 Residents with YNHHS. He has been a Pharmacist for over 38 years, 36 years involved with sterile compounding and 22 years as a Home Infusion Pharmacist. Gene has been a member of NHIA since 1999. Gene served for 1 year on the BPS Sterile Compounding Task Force that looked into role delineation for credentialing of sterile compounding Pharmacists. This followed by a successful 3 year term on the BPS Sterile Compounding Council for the creation of the credentialing exam, his tenured ended on Dec 31, 2021. Gene is an active member of the NHIA Sterile Compounding, Standards and Outcomes Committees. A member of the Vizient Home Infusion Subcommittee. In Jan 2021, Gene was honored with a Fellowship from the National Home Infusion Association (FNHIA). This established him among an exceptional group of leaders in the field by promoting excellence in home infusion practice. Gene was awarded the Connecticut Pharmacist Association (CPA) Professional Pharmacy Performance Award in Sept 2021. Gene was invited to be a CPA mentor. Currently sits on the CPA Sterile Compounding Conference Committee. Selected member of the Institute for Excellence at Yale New Haven Health’s Lean-In Class of 2022. Also an active member of the YNHHS USP <797> <800> Committees. A PTCB program teacher for a local CT community college, Outside interests include spending time with his family, being a head coach for two hockey teams, including a group of special needs players called the Northern Braveheart’s Hockey Club.
