Neonatal APN
Nationwide Children's Hospital
Sunbury, Ohio, United States
I am Dr. Alecia Karr, DNP, APRN, CPNP-AC and I am a doctorally-prepared nurse practitioner with an acute care pediatric certification. I currently work as a neonatal nurse practitioner for Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I work in a level IV NICU and I have been a nurse practitioner with Nationwide Children's Hospital since August 2020. I currently specialize in and primarily work on a unit dedicated to neonates with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). In addition to my role as a provider, I am a NRP instructor, I serve on the NICU mock code team and code review committee for my hospital, and I volunteer my time as a vaccinator for our pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinic. Before moving to Columbus, I lived in Elizabethtown, Kentucky and worked for a delivery hospital and level II NICU as a bedside RN and charge nurse. I received my DNP at the University of Kentucky, my BSN at Arkansas State University, and I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Louisville. I have an interest in neonatal abstienence syndrome (NAS) and was recently published in the Journal of Perinatology for my research on the effectiveness of umbilical cord drug screening. I am now working on research that specifically impacts infants with BPD, and this lecture is an example of my current area of interest.
