Lynn A. Schaefer, Ph.D., ABPP-CN is Director of Neuropsychology at Nassau University Medical Center. She holds academic appointments as Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and as Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Stony Brook Medicine. Dr. Schaefer is a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the American Psychological Association (Division 40, Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (SCN)). She recently served as Chair of the Ethics PIAC Subcommittee for the SCN from 2017 to 2021, and is currently on SCN's Community Outreach Subcommittee. Dr. Schaefer is also presently Co-Chair of the Scholastic Committee for the New York State Association of Neuropsychology. Her clinical and research interests are in the assessment and remediation of neurobehavioral disorders, such as brain injury and dementia; educational outreach; and in the determination of decision-making capacity. She has presented on the latter to both the APA and ABA. Dr. Schaefer is also Co-Editor of "A Casebook of Mental Capacity in U.S. Legislation: Assessment and Legal Commentary," recently published by Routledge.
