Dr. Melissa Balderrama attained her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science with a minor in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She then attended Azusa Pacific University (APU) where she attained her MA and PsyD degrees in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Balderrama received externship training in neuropsychological assessment Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s) and City of Hope National Medical Center. She completed a yearlong, APA-accredited pediatric neuropsychology internship through the Missouri Health Sciences Psychology Consortium and a two-year neuropsychology fellowship at the Sports Concussion Institute in Los Angeles, CA. She currently works as a pediatric neuropsychologist in the division of hematology, oncology and blood and marrow transplantation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). She is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Her ongoing research interests include studying the neuropsychological sequelae of medical disorders (including cancer, blood diseases, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury) in pediatric populations.
