Gifted Specialist

I have always enjoyed teaching students. My experience as a teacher began in 1986 when I graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I furthered my education in 1989 by receiving a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education from Samford University and a Master of Science degree in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Alabama. In 2010 to 2012 I began my journey with the Alabama Association for Gifted Children as President-Elect. From 2012 to 2014 I served as President of the Alabama Association for Gifted Children. I continued to serve on the board in many positions until 2016. In 2014 I graduated from the University of Alabama with an Educational Specialist degree in Gifted and Talented Education. I have 24 years teaching experience in gifted and talented education. I currently teach gifted and talented students in the Birmingham City School system. I have Co-Chaired NAGC's Public Policy and Advocacy Committee in 2020-2021. I have been married 41 years and have two children and two grandchildren.
