Middle School Gifted Specialist
Paradise Valley Unified School District, Arizona
Rebekah A. West Keur, M.Ed. is a Middle School Gifted Specialist for the Paradise Valley Unified School District teaching in the DLC program. The DLC program is a semi-self-contained gifted program at Sunrise Middle School. She is also an academic Associate with ASU’s Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction Gifted Education department. In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor with Maricopa Community Colleges.
Rebekah is an accomplished educator and teacher leader in gifted, elementary, middle school, high school, and college education with an emphasis in humanities, Gifted Education, and professional development. She has been working in the field of gifted education for the past twelve years in elementary school through college programs in Title I, suburban, national, and international settings including working with the DDC and John's Hopkins CTY program.
Rebekah has an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Gifted Education from Arizona State University. She has earned multiple degrees from Grand Valley State University including Curriculum and Instruction, English, and Theater, and has studied in English master's programs at GVSU, ASU, and Oxford. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education in Leadership & Innovation at ASU, specializing in PreKindergarten-Grade 12 Change Leadership where her dissertation is in Increasing Equity in Gifted Programming Through a Multi-faceted Approach to Close the Opportunity Gap.
Rebekah has presented at the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) national gifted conferences, the state Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented (AAGT) conferences, and SENG conferences, and is a published author on gifted education. She is also currently serving on the NAGC Teaching for High Potential Advisory Committee and is on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented.
