Andrea Brucella Finnegan, M.S. Ed., is a doctoral student at the Bridges Graduate School of Cognitive Diversity, studying giftedness, particularly twice-exceptionality. She is fascinated by the vast diversities of the human brain that occur naturally, which are currently viewed as deficits in healthcare and education today. Her mission is to flip deficit views of neurodiversities into postive, realistic and holistic ones that positively support this population. Andrea serves as co-director and instructor for the Operation House Call Program at the Yale School of Nursing, a graduate program that uses families that prepares healthcare professionals to build confidence and sensitivity in their work with individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental differences. Andrea has also piloted positive neurodiversity awareness classes to children in elementary schools and is an instructor for Ask A Brain Scientist (AABS), a program that teaches children about the intricacies of the brain, which is hosted by Dr. Fumiko Hoeft & The University of Connecticut. Andrea is a mom to three awesome children who inspire her field of work and research.
