Grizelle Larriviel, M.A., is a Doctoral Student in Educational Psychology at the University of North Texas (with a focus on GT) and an educator in Irving ISD. Grizelle’s research interests include Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory and its impact on underrepresented special populations going through the gifted and talented process. Other interests include underachievement, social and emotional development, and bonding and building cultural wealth within the community. Additionally, she wants to address the needs of gifted and talented children and their families and transform teachers and administrators whose goal is to improve schools that reflect today's student bodies' economic and cultural diversity. She brings a uniquely personal and academic perspective to the development of teaching and parental support of gifted children, drawing from experiences as a teacher and a first-generation Hispanic-American.
