Gifted Education Specialist

Dr. Rae Lymer serves as the Gifted Education Specialist for Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools), the Vice President of Maryland Educators of Gifted Students, and as the co-chair of the Maryland Gifted and Talented Advisory Council. They have received awards from MSDE for Outstanding Program Coordinator (2018) and Teacher as Leader in gifted education (2015). In their tenure, City Schools has begun implementation of Individualized Learning Plans for all gifted and advanced students and increased the number of Maryland recognized schools for Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) to 20 schools in the last 6 years. They present on topics related to individualized instruction for the gifted, equitable identification practices, and asset-based instruction, as well as work directly with teachers and administrators on building equitable and effective gifted services.
