Jolene Teske, EdD, is the Supervisor for Advanced Learning Programming for Des Moines Public Schools in Des Moines, Iowa. Jolene has been involved in gifted education since preschool as a student and for thirty years as an educator. Early in her educational career, she was awarded a Fellowship at the Belin-Blank Center at the University of Iowa. From there her passion for gifted education continued as she earned a Master’s Degree in Gifted Education and then a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. Her work focuses on program evaluation, the integration of the arts in the classroom, the social and emotional support of gifted students, and most recently, using qualitative data for a more equitable gifted program identification. Jolene was a board member of the Iowa Talented and Gifted Association for nine years. She serves as the State Director for Iowa Academic Decathlon; is a member of the United States Academic Decathlon National Board of Directors, NAGC's Diversity and Equity Committee, and NAGC's Leadership Development Committee; is the Chair Elect for the Gifted Coordinators Network; and facilitates SENG Parent Groups as a Certified SMPG Facilitator.
