Associate Professor
East Carolina University, North Carolina
R. Martin Reardon (PhD, Educational Policy Planning and Leadership, The College of William and Mary in Virginia, 2000) is Associate Professor in the Educational Leadership Department of the College of Education at East Carolina University (ECU), Greenville, NC. His instructional contributions to the Educational Leadership Department focus on teaching academic writing and mixed methods approaches to research in the context of the problem-of-practice-oriented education doctorate program.
Reardon oversaw the 2017 submission administration of a $1,000,000, 5-year National Science Foundation grant to integrate computational thinking with the teaching of music and visual arts in middle schools in three rural counties in North Carolina. Since 2018, he has also served as an affiliate faculty member of the Rural Education Institute within the College of Education.
Stemming from his 6 years as Chair of the School-University-Community Collaborative Research (SUCCR) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Reardon co-edited a book with two former leaders of the SUCCR SIG that extended an earlier model of school-university collaboration to incorporate the vital role of the community. Subsequently, beginning in 2017, he embarked on an in-depth exploration of the SUCCR theme as the lead editor in an ongoing series—Current Perspectives on School/University/Community Research. The most recent of the eight volumes in the series is titled School-University-Community Collaboration for Civic Education and Engagement in the Democratic Project (2022). https://www.infoagepub.com/authors/r-martin-reardon
