Selcuk Acar, Ph.D., is an associate professor of educational psychology at the University of North Texas. He received his doctorate in Educational Psychology (with an emphasis in Gifted and Creative Education) from the University of Georgia. His primary research interests include divergent thinking, assessment of creativity, and the education of the gifted and talented. In addition to numerous book chapters and encyclopedia entries, Dr. Acar published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, most of which appeared in the leading creativity journals. He is serving on the editorial board of Journal of Creative Behavior and Journal of Advanced Academics contributed to the Encyclopedia of Creativity and the Cambridge Handbook of Creativity. He leads a 3-year research grant funded by the Institute of Education Sciences to develop a new measure of original thinking for elementary school children.
