Donna B. Hulsey is currently a doctoral student at Baylor University focusing on understanding and supporting gifted individuals across the lifespan. After 12 amazing years as Co-Founder and Head of School for a private school for gifted learners in Austin, Texas, Ms. Hulsey returned to higher education to formalize and extend her studies in GT. In her undergraduate and graduate studies at Rhodes College and the College of William and Mary, Ms. Hulsey pursued a strong foundation in the classical liberal arts, linguistics, literary analysis, rhetoric, and composition. She worked as a senior technical writer, publication editor, and project manager in business; a freelance writer in banking, education, and healthcare; and an instructor in writing in elementary and college classrooms before being led by the needs of her own children into advocacy for gifted children. Ms. Hulsey has trained in best methods for teaching gifted learners, authored articles on gifted education, and speaks to professional and parent groups. A veteran of several startups and firm believer in entrepreneurship, Ms. Hulsey has been a founding member of several professional organizations and publications. Outside academics, she has enjoyed teaching in several realms, but her favorite challenge has been coaching young inventors and creative problem solving teams (Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination).
