Short description: Presenters share findings from the Talent Identification and Career Exploration program, which uses an innovative model of talent discovery and career development to serve underrepresented gifted rural middle school students. Preliminary results suggest that the academic self-efficacy of underrepresented students improves when (1) they are identified early, and (2) learning experiences connect to the exploration of career goals.

Explore Social Cognitive Career Theory and how it applies to talent development
Learn about the role of self-efficacy in addressing the learning needs of under-served middle-school students
