Short description: This session details a tiered professional learning system for K-12 educators that was developed using best practices in social-emotional learning, research-based instructional strategies, and gifted theory in social justice. Participants learn how to differentiate professional learning based on teacher experience and need. These methods are appropriate for urban and rural districts serving ethnically, economically, and linguistically diverse populations.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Develop an understanding of the research-based gifted education topics and professional learning delivery methods that maximize gifted services in the general education classroom
Gain an understanding that as we train general education teachers on gifted education practices it supports the identification of ethnically, economically, and linguistically diverse populations
Gain a model of a tiered professional learning system that was developed based on the NAGC teacher preparation standards
