Short description: Teachers play a crucial role in identifying gifted students from underrepresented populations and in providing them proper interventions to develop their potential. This session reports results from the identification process of a federally-funded project with a focus on teachers’ perceptions of students from various subgroups, such as students from lower-income backgrounds, English learners, and those previously identified as gifted.

Learn useful information about the HOPE Teacher Rating Scale, and its advantages when using it in identification processes for gifted students from underrepresented populations
Analyze their own knowledge about identification processes to reframe their perspective when addressing gifted students' academic and social dimensions
Re-think how to improve the identification processes of gifted students from underrepresented populations
