Todd Diacon became Kent State University’s 13th president in July 2019. A tireless advocate for student success, President Diacon has more than 30 years of experience in higher education leadership.
His commitment to college affordability and access have resulted in nationally recognized initiatives to boost student retention, graduation rates and academic achievement.
President Diacon joined Kent State as provost in 2012. Prior to Kent State, President Diacon served as deputy chancellor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern College in Kansas and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He has authored publications on student success and the administration of higher education and has written numerous journal articles and two books. Dr. Diacon was recently named to the Crain’s 2020 Power 150 and serves on the boards of Ideastream, Team NEO, the Greater Akron Chamber and the Musical Arts Association/Cleveland Orchestra.
