Suzanne LaVenture, MA, is the Director of International Education at Davidson-Davie Community College in Thomasville, NC. Davidson-Davie is the proud recipient of the 2021 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization. Suzanne, a part-time staff member, and an International Education Committee run all of the College's international programs, including numerous faculty-led study abroad programs, a nationally recognized Scholars of Global Distinction program, and a full slate of co-curricular activities called "Passport Events." The International Office also regularly hosts sponsored international students and scholars including Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence and Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants. Suzanne participated in a Fulbright International Education Administrators seminar in Russia in 2016 and is currently serving as a Fulbright Alumni Ambassador. Suzanne also serves as the community college representative for NCAIE (North Carolina Association of International Educators) and on the SIO Council of CCID (Community Colleges for International Development.) Suzanne holds a B.A. in Spanish from Wake Forest University and an M.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
