American Council on Education
Veronica Onorevole is the director of the Virtual Exchange/Collaborative Online International Learning (VECOIL) Transformation Lab and associate director of programs and global initiatives at the American Council on Education.
She is primarily responsible for supporting emerging technologies and global learning innovation initiatives in U.S. and global higher education. Onorevole is a leader in cultivating and managing international relationships for U.S. and foreign governments, foundations and industry partners, institutions of higher education, subject-matter experts, and international scholarly associations.
Prior to joining ACE, Onorevole worked at the Institute of International Education overseeing the administration of the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program in the East Asia Pacific region on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. During her time at IIE, she worked with the U.S. Embassy Rangoon on successfully sending the first cohorts of U.S. scholars to Burma since 1987. She also created and implemented the Fulbright ASEAN Research Program for U.S. Scholars and Fulbright U.S.-Taiwan International Education Administrators Program.
Onorevole’s earlier experiences in international affairs include six years as the educational programs manager for the American Society of International Law and two years as a U.S. political/congressional affairs researcher at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC. Onorevole lived in Japan as a university exchange student at Temple University Japan and as an assistant English language teacher in Fukushima prefecture through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. The Japan Foundation and University of Hawaii recognize her as a Japan specialist.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Japanese language studies from Douglass College, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and a master of international affairs degree from the School of International Service, American University. Onorevole also attained a congressional appointment and received honorable discharge from the U.S. Naval Academy.
