Semhar is Assistant Director of the Office of International Services at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Semhar has been in the immigration law field for over fifteen years. She served in the ISS-RP Travel Subcommittee for two years (January 2016 - December 2017), and she has presented in a number of NAFSA annual and regional conferences. Previously, she served as an Immigration Specialist at American University and Assistant Director of the Office of International Services at Johns Hopkins University. Semhar has an LL.M. degree in US Immigration Law and another LL.M. in International Law from American University as well as an LL.B. degree in Law from the University of Asmara, Eritrea.
