Senior Coordinator, International Student Program
Glendale Community College
Nusha Shishegar began her international student services career at UC Irvine Extension’s English and Certificate Programs for Internationals program in 2001, first as a student worker then as SEVIS Coordinator. In 2005, she began working for Claremont Graduate University, and became the PDSO and RO for the institution. After a brief stint in Admission Operations at the University of La Verne from 2011-2015, Nusha once again “came home” to the field she loves, assuming the role of Immigration Student Support Specialist at CSU San Bernardino’s College of Extended Learning. In October 2016, she returned to the Claremont Colleges, this time acting as the International Student Advisor for Keck Graduate Institute. In 2019, she assumed her present role of Senior Coordinator of the International Student Programs Office at Glendale Community College. In 2016, Nusha participated in NAFSA Academy, and also assumed the role of LA Professional International Education Roundtable (LA PIER) Coordinator. As Coordinator, she managed the group’s listserve and grew the professional advancement opportunities PIER provides by establishing a leadership team to help plan the quarterly PIER meetings.
She is currently a member of NAFSA TrainerCorps and has proudly served Region XII in several volunteer capacities, including as Southern District Chair Stream (2016-2019), Student Regulatory Ombudsman (2018-2020) and Conference Apprentice (2021) and now Conference Chair. She is an active member on the LA PIER and NAFSA International Student Advising Network (ISTA) email forums, providing responses and advice to international student advisors from around the nation. Nusha is always available to help her colleagues and admires them all for what they do to create a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for their international student populations.
