Senior International Officer & Associate Vice Provost for International Education

Dr. David L. Di Maria currently serves as the inaugural Senior International Officer & Associate Vice Provost for International Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He previously served as Associate Provost for International Programs at Montana State University. Dr. Di Maria frequently presents, publishes and consults on model practices pertaining to international education administration. He is the current past-chair of NAFSA’s International Education Leadership Knowledge Community, a member of the Editorial Board of Internationalisation of Higher Education: Policy and Practice, and an International Education Fellow with the University at Albany. He previously served as Chair of NAFSA's International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community, President of the American International Recruitment Council and he was a Neal Presidential Fellow with the Association of International Education Administrators. Dr. Di Maria earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His doctorate, which he received from the University of Minnesota, focused on internationalization from a P-16 perspective. Dr. Di Maria’s scholarly interests include campus services for international students, international student mobility and the application of systems thinking to the internationalization of higher education. He is the author or editor of three books as well as dozens of articles, books chapters and technical publications all focused on international education. His latest book is Achieving More with Less: Lean Management in the International Student Office, which is available at the NAFSA Bookstore.
