Beth Riley is Assistant Director for the Ivanhoe International Center at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. This position in a small office allows for a young professional to wear many hats. Beth works with everything international for the university especially international student: recruitment, admissions, compliance on international student immigration, and development of multiple programs to facilitate international student retention and engagement. Beth earned her master’s from South Dakota State University in Counseling and Human Resource Development with a specialization in Administration of Student Affairs. Beth is active in NAFSA holding many roles on the regional team, was a member of the NAFSA academy (2015) along with earning the Outstanding New Professional Award (Region IV) in 2016.
Beth has a passion for international education and travels every chance she can take. Her interest in different cultures can be traced back to her time in Japan where she lived for eleven years. Beth is a homegrown resident of the region and grew up in Sturgis, SD, and she current lives in Rapid City where she enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and riding her motorcycle.
