Cristina Cenciarelli PhD, International Scholar Outreach Coordinator for the University of Colorado was born and raised in Rome, Italy, where she obtained a master in Science and a Ph.D in Biology in 1989. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at National Institute of Health (Bethesda, MD) and the University of Maryland ( Baltimore, MD), and as a Research Associate at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University ( both in NewYork CIty, NY), before making a career switch and getting a Master in Teaching Italian as a Second Language ( Siena, Italy).
As Professor of Italian, she worked at Loyola University in Baltimore before moving to Denver when, in 2015 she joined the Office of International Affairs for the University of Colorado, where she holds the current title.
In her position, she is focusing in keeping the international community of CU Denver and CU Anschutz engaged in meaningful ways that encompass academic and social realms. In the past 7 years, since she was hired, she has been able to create and deliver programming that supports and glues together the international community of both university's campuses. ISCORE (International Scholars Collaborative Opportunities for Research Exchange), CUBB program (CU Beyond Borders), plus several WhatsApp groups are a few examples of her intentional approach to reach her goal.
