The mind and body are connected; however, they can also work independently. Through evolution, our bodies adapted certain physiological mechanisms in reaction to the stress of potentially life-threatening scenarios. These mechanisms helped to keep our ancestors safe. Now, our bodily responses to stress can make us feel unsafe, even in nonthreatening environments. Take a deep dive into mindful practices such as stress-reducing breathing techniques and tension-release exercises. Learn how to befriend stress as a way to prepare your body for upcoming challenges.
