Friday, June 3, 2022
9:30 AM – 10:20 AM MDT
Location: Room 702/704
Presenters define Transformative Learning Theory (TLT) and its multiple applications to education abroad: from student preparation prior to departure, to program development and cultural mentoring on site, to implications for r-entry workshops and ultimately why TLT may be a better assessment of program quality than assessments currently used.
Learning Objectives:
Define and provide a brief history of TLT.
Enumerate the multiple applications of TLT to education abroad and how it can deliver international educators the foundation and scaffolding for transformational experiences abroad, as well as a new method of assessing outcomes.
Demonstrate how goals for professional development in education abroad can and should be linked to TLT, from prior to departure to on site, culminating in the reentry workshop.
