Thursday, June 2, 2022
4:00 PM – 4:50 PM MDT
Location: Room 407
Sustainability as a term (and a goal) is widely used in international education. But is it enough? This session introduces regenerative study abroad (RSA) as a concept and proposed field objective. RSA can not only change students’ perceptions and values, but also support social, economic, and environmental changes in host communities.
Learning Objectives:
Define sustainability, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the current state of affairs on sustainability-related topics within education abroad.
Understand how different industries use regenerative approaches to push the boundary of sustainability.
Learn from case studies of regenerative education abroad programs, with an emphasis on examples that could be replicated in other locations and program formats.
Design a framework so that participants can develop a regenerative mindset for designing education abroad programs.
