Equity in Virtual Exchange: Creating Programs that Empower All Participants

How can one achieve equity in virtual exchange? Drawing from experience, the Stevens Initiative shares how restructuring power dynamics among international partners, fostering reciprocity in relationships, and prioritizing diversity in recruitment can help achieve more equitable virtual exchange programs from ideation to execution.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate mechanisms and elements necessary for structuring power dynamics that favor democratic decision-making and planning.
Design a virtual exchange model that fosters reciprocity in relationships among educators, facilitators, and implementers.
Conduct virtual exchange recruitment that favors diversity.
Demonstrate the importance of including principles of equity and inclusion in international education broadly and in virtual exchange more specifically.
