To Affordable Care Act or Not? International Student Health Insurance

Health insurance exclusively for international students is not required to be Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliant. Presenters address building separate policies for international students, designing comprehensive coverage for international students at significantly lower cost, and understanding which parts of ACA-specific benefits are not essential for international students.

Learning Objectives:

Build a comprehensive health insurance plan at significantly lower cost than an ACA-compliant plan.
Construct plan benefits to provide comprehensive coverage for international students, including pre-existing conditions, wellness, and other common healthcare needs of international students.
Understand which parts of ACA benefits are not essential for international students.
Tailor a plan that works seamlessly with the student health center and local healthcare provider networks.
