Wednesday, June 1, 2022
2:30 PM – 3:20 PM MDT
Location: Mile High Ballroom 1D
This session describes a study that addresses the gap in the current literature on community college international students and provides faculty and staff with a foundation of knowledge and strategies to improve international and nonimmigrant student access, retention, and success. Join this session to learn about the research, hear anecdotal evidence, and consider ways to positively impact international and nonimmigrant student acculturation and retention processes. This session was selected as the Region V conference highlight from the NAFSA 2021 All-Region Summit.
Learning Objectives:
Describe and implement an acculturation mindset in supporting international students.
Utilize data to “manage up” and advocate for international/nonimmigrant student support.
Demonstrate a strong understanding on which to build strategic support systems for international students in the classroom and throughout campus.
