This workshop is modeled after NAFSA’s highly regarded Advocacy Day training curriculum, including cutting-edge political analysis and small breakout groups to practice making the asks of elected officials. Identify and practice effective strategies for advocating with campus and congressional leaders year-round.

Learning Objectives:

Identify how the current political climate, the U.S. immigration system, and external factors such as the pandemic combine to shape NAFSA's policy priorities.
Analyze the critical role of grassroots advocates in achieving important policy goals.
Determine strategies for engaging with key stakeholders at the campus, congressional district, and federal levels—including virtually—year-round.
Acquire tips and tricks for using social media effectively to influence lawmakers.
