Christian Newman is a Technical Executive at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
Newman has over 25 years of the experience working in the environmental and energy sector. He holds master’s degrees in both Wildlife Ecology and Business. His educational training and professional experience are as a wildlife biologist with a focus on endangered and protected species for the electric power industry. He currently manages EPRI’s Endangered & Protected Species and its Environmental Aspects of Wind research programs.
He has applied the ESA, BGEPA, and other protected species regulations and guidelines for the electric power industry ranging from basic research, negotiating incidental take permits with USFWS and developing technologies to reduce potential impacts from energy development. He has successfully worked throughout the US and internationally, writing winning proposals and leading teams comprised of universities, NGOs, energy companies, consultants, and government to do research or develop innovative solutions for the electric power industry.
