Jonas Epstein is a Conservation Finance Project Specialist working for the U.S. Forest Service’s National Partnership Office out of Washington, DC. He is part of a small team pursuing innovative ways to develop new partnership structures to leverage external funding and financing for needed restoration and recreation projects on and adjacent to public lands. Jonas brokers relationships between partners, National Forest units, and local communities, and helps facilitate pilot projects to explore the application of environmental markets, debt-based financing, public financing, cost-share agreements, and corporate/philanthropic models for supporting high-priority projects.
