Kristina Theam is a senior undergraduate student studying Marine Biology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Passionate about the intersections of marine research and environmental policy, she completed a wetland policy internship at the NOAA Office of Habitat Conservation in summer 2021. This project focused on investigating barriers to using state-owned lands for compensatory mitigation. In addition to this work, she is currently studying sapphirinid copepod biodiversity near Honolulu Harbor and has completed two other projects focused on copepods in the Porter Vision Lab.
