The Nutrient Tracking Tool (NTT) is a user-friendly web-based computer program and is linked to the Agricultural Policy Environmental eXtender (APEX) model. It also accesses USDA-NRCS’s Web Soil Survey and PRISM to obtain field, weather, and soil information. NTT provides producers, government officials, and other users with a fast and efficient method of estimating the nutrient, sediment losses, and crop production under different conservation practices regimes. The NTT program assists the users in developing mitigation strategies to improve field and streams water quality. NTT also provide important information for users (e.g., producers) to generate the maximum number of nutrient credits for trading market programs. NTT has been released for public use by USDA office (www.ntt.tarleton.edu). A version of NTT (CBNTT) is also currently being used for trading and other water quality programs in Chesapeake Bay regions. Recently, NTT has expanded its capabilities to evaluate the mitigation strategies for stream restoration. During this presentation the application of NTT for stream restoration will be described and demonstrated.
