Dr. Shiloh Lueschow MS, PhD is a postdoctoral research scholar from the University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics. MS and PhD in Microbiology with her PhD research involving prevention and treatment of necrotizing enterocolitis and neonatal sepsis with antimicrobial peptides and probiotics. Her current research involves determining the utility of probiotic Lactobacillus johnsonii in prevention of neonatal sepsis; analyzing how probiotics influence the gut microbiome of preterm neonates at different degrees of prematurity, determining the efficacy of other commonly used probiotic strains on neonatal sepsis, and continuing to analyze NEC definitions using statistics and machine learning techniques.
