Transgenesis has become a powerful tool that can be used for the control of arthropod vectors of disease. The genetic modification of mosquitoes and other arthropods with the aim of controlling the transmission of vector-borne diseases, by reducing or eliminating vector populations, or by rendering vectors less capable of pathogen transmission, offers undoubtful benefits for human and animal health. In the 2022 Highlights in Medical Entomology presentation, we will highlight recent transgenic approaches in medical entomology.
