This talk is not going to give detailed description on the IPM tools currently used for Tuta absoluta in China, but more interestingly, I tried to answer the question: could be achieve multidimensional management with other associated pests in tomato? To answer the question, we need to check how the bottom-up effects, top-down effects and indirect interactions work jointly to determine the population density of multiple insect pests in tomato crops. We have found part of the answer with our previous experiments, but we are still on the way forward. More importantly, not limited to tomato crop system, we intend to put forward a new theoretical framework – “Multidimensional Management of Multiple pests (3M)” – which could help realize the full potential of IPM.
