Saproxylic (i.e., deadwood dependent) invertebrates are a diverse and ecologically important functional group in forests. Speakers in this session will cover a wide range of topics relevant to saproxylic invertebrates, including evolution, biodiversity, fire ecology, forest disturbances, tree defenses, gut symbioses, host specialization, and conservation.
