In agriculture and entomology, new technologies and devices allow one to gather large data sets in real time, with high precision, and with ever-growing computing power to leverage it. They help us gain insights into biological mechanisms; enhance our ability to track insect populations; and inform rapid responses to insect pests. This symposium is a showcase of new technologies and modeling efforts in the field of entomology. In my introductory remarks, I will briefly introduce the speakers and the breadth of topics covered by the in-person and virtual presentations of the symposium.
