Developing novel insect control products often requires behavioral efficacy studies. From unexpected confounding variables to choosing the right measure of success, running a useful behavior assay with urban pests can prove to be difficult. As a player in the consumer pest insect control space, it has been necessary for P&G to understand and evaluate complex behaviors in various crawling and flying insect groups.
Various entomological disciplines draw on collective knowledge of insect behavior to enable good experimental design and avoid known pitfalls. We report on insect pest behavior insights P&G has gleaned from multiple years of experiments run in simulated and real-world consumer environments.
