The research interests of Govind Persad, JD, PhD, center on the legal and ethical dimensions of health insurance, health-care financing (both domestic and international), and markets in health-care services, as well as professional ethics and the regulation of medical research. He is the ASCO Post's Law and Ethics columnist. He received the 2022 Baruch A. Brody Award in Bioethics for his work on ethical issues during the COVID-19 pandemic and was selected as a 2018-21 Greenwall Faculty Scholar in Bioethics for a research project on health insurance and protection against financial risk. His recent articles have appeared in journals including JAMA, NEJM, Science, and The Lancet, as well as law reviews. Dr. Persad is an assistant professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He received his JD and PhD from Stanford University and clerked for the Hon. Carlos Lucero, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
