Lorraine Drapak, DNP, FNP-BC, AOCNP, has expertise in oncology and a longstanding commitment to promoting sexual health for cancer patients and survivors. Ms. Drapak's doctoral project was to develop a program to educate women on best practices in managing the long-term effects of radiation and support engagement with sexual function and preventive vaginal health exams. In collaboration with her oncology colleagues, she served as lead clinician on many projects, including a study of sexual function, quality of life, and the moods of women receiving pelvic radiation. She developed a sexual health clinic in Botswana for patients who received treatment for cervical/endometrial cancers. She practices on the GI radiation oncology team and the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center Sexual Health Clinic. Dr. Drapak has presented on sexual health after cancer for the Oncology Nursing Society, American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, and the National Consortium of Breast Cancers.
