Physician Assistant
Wilmot Cancer Center/URMC
Gina Fries is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) at University of Rochester Medical Center in the Wilmot Cancer Center with over 20 years of experience. She has been involved in the care of patients with cancer for the past 13 years, specializing with patients who have Multiple Myeloma for the past 3 years.
Gina provides care for patients with Multiple Myeloma while evaluating patients in clinic and overseeing the infusion center. She participates in the enrollment of patients onto clinical trials, orders chemotherapy and performs procedures including intrathecal administration of chemotherapy and minimal IV sedation bone marrow biopsies. Gina is passionate about empowering patients to be active in their cancer treatment decision making process. She believes this gives patients a better overall quality of life and is especially important for patients with Multiple Myeloma as they have a limited life expectancy and there is no cure.
During the course of her career Gina was a member of the Advanced Practice Provider Education Committee for the AUA (American Urological Association). She has also given talks on various topics for Prostate Cancer and Multiple Myeloma at the local, regional and national levels.
Outside of work Gina keeps busy with her husband and 15-year-old boy and girl twins, spending many weekends at lacrosse tournaments and dance competitions. In her free time, she enjoys being active outdoors and especially loves camping, hiking, and kayaking.
